((Hates self for loving fantasy so much.))
In an unnamed village deep in a fertile valley, the sun peaked over the mountains, a few rays casting over the land. It was peaceful and quiet and families were waking up and eating their breakfast before starting the day.
In one particular house, a small family were enjoying their gruel for the morning, when a huge boulder utterly DESTROYED the north side of the house. Luckily, no one was hurt.
(lazy, snatched from previous attempt)
"MUUUUGI!!" The father bellowed in all of his red-faced, hairy glory. Some of his potato mash flew out of his mouth, leaving some spots on the front of his shirt.
"What?!" The eldest son, Mugi, no kidding, lifted his hands in defence. His eyes were wide with bewilderment and shock.
"IT'S YOU, ISN'T IT. IT'S YOUR FAULT." Mugi's hairy father was looking pretty pissed, waving his burly arm.
"HOW AM I RESPONSIBLE FOR A BOULDER?!"
"EVERYTHING'S YOUR FAULT. YOU'RE THE ONE WHO KILLED BESSY."
"Uh, well.. That was an accident. How was I supposed to know that she wasn't supposed to eat-"
Mugi's paternal figure cut him off, picking the poor boy up by the collar and tossing him towards the exit. He threw him an old bronze sword wrapped in brown cloth and a cloak.
"Go! You're no longer living with us."
"Lolwhat?"
(okay back to not lazy)
Mugi's father slammed the door shut with only a "Go get some money and learn how to live in the real world!" Mugi's mother quickly picked up 15 gold coins, reopened the door, and passed it to the now evicted boy.
"Have fun and don't die, sweetie!" she said quickly before shutting the door again.
Poor Mugi, nineteen years old and completely confused, picked himself up and gathered his provisions. With nothing else to do, he began the first step of his journey by leaving the village.
With no other plans, the young and new adventurer decided to head to the large city of Aelmoor. Not that he knew where exactly it was.

(Lazily stolen and edited from previous attempt)
Ruko was walking home to her cabin on a mountain peak after a long day of looking for work when she saw an enormous boulder sitting next to a mountain path, minding its own business. It was really gargantuan, about two Rukos tall, even though she was already quite tall for a person herself.
"Wow," she whistled, sizing up the rock. "I didn't realize they could get this big. What is this thing doing out here?"
Ruko leaned against the boulder, still perplexed at its enormity. Suddenly, however, the unstable hunk of stone began to slide, leaving a deep trench in the dirt. Already quite near to the edge, the rock tumbled over the side, falling quickly.
"Uh-oh."
Holding her breath, Ruko peeked over the edge. She couldn't see where it landed--the bottom of the mountain was shrouded in a white, misty haze. After a few seconds, a thud and a crash resounded in the valley.
"I hope that didn't hit anyone," Ruko mumbled to herself, continuing on her way. Ah, it was probably okay.

(Gumi got accepted so I am joining! Boo yah!)
Gumi scratched her head a bit as she looked at the map in her small hands. She needed to reach the mountains east of the town of Aelmoor, it was said to hold a secret, and most valuable, treasure. Surely that would help her get out of debt, Gumi gripped the map and then proceeded to shove it in her traveler's pouch. She had about 50 gold coins on her after defeating the troll from earlier and ransacking his loincl- uh... bag. So she should go into Aelmoor and buy supplies for her lonely, hard, cold journey to the mountains. Gumi walked along the woodsy path to get to the village. She thought to herself of what supplies she would need: Probably bread, water, perhaps carrots? Whatever, she could think more in depth about it once she got to the village. She added a little skip to her step to entertain herself in the boring woods, yup this was as good as it was gonna ge- Just then she tripped over a rock and landed face-first on the ground. Who would of thought. "Oof!" Gumi called out. She sat up and released the presence of the grass from her mouth. "Bleck!" She spat out. She quickly took some of the water in her canteen and washed out her mouth by gargling the liquid. Then proceeded to wash off the scrapes on her shins with the remaining water. Luckily for her she was getting pretty close to Aelmoor, she could go get some more water soon. She got back up and continued her path, watching carefully to prevent another fall.

How long had it been since Mugi left home? Five hours? Six? The sun was already high in the sky, beating upon the boy's back and neck.
"Dammit," the exhausted greenhorn adventurer muttered. "I'm sweating like a knight in a dragon cave." But complaints did nothing but waste his breath and energy and Mugi continued to stumble along the path, kicking rocks and wiping his brow.
The long journey to the famous city of Aelmoor would definitely be a long one. But it was also Mugi's best chance of survival as it was the capitol of the country, with the most jobs. Many people, including ones from Mugi's village, had moved to the capitol in hopes of finding work and a new life.

((Ooh~ Fantasy~ I'mma crash into the party~ And sorry if I'm making Rei too powerful, if you guys think that's too much I'll edit it xD ))
Rei looked down at the city of Aelmoor. After a week of traveling, he finally reached it. He was sitting on a tall tree, on a tall mountain that was several miles away from the city. He just has to pass the forest, and he'll be at Aelmoor.
The raven haired boy was only fourteen, but he has been surviving on his own since he was a child. After some unfortunate events, his parents had died, and Rei has learned not to trust anyone. Anyone. Since then, the teen has been cold to everyone that he's meet and never made any friends, because humans are unreliable and they will always turn their back on you. But Rei wasn't born into a normal family. He was born into a family of highly trained assassins and has been trained by many masters since birth. Sadly, he wasn't able to finish his training because of the 'incident' that killed his family, leaving him the only one alive. However, Rei is quite a skilled assassin compared to others. He's not as good as he's family, but he's good. The constant practice after he's family's death probably helped with that.
The teen has survived mostly on stealing in villages and cities, or hunting in the forests. He never took more than what he need, so being caught was never a very big problem. He jumped down from the tree and stretched. Time to get going.

((Haha, this is fantasy, so like, even if you made him the dark demon overlord, I'm sure we wouldn't miiiiind. The trip was getting worse and worse. Twice Mugi had to dump a pebble from his boot, and both times he found an increasing amount of blisters. Sweat soaked through the poor boy's clothes and civilization (besides the road) was NO WHERE TO BE FOUND. "Waaaterrr..." It took what felt like hours (probably only around twenty minutes) until Mugi noticed farm land beginning to appear. A nearby village? Shelter? Food?! WATER?! Suddenly forgetting all his pains and problems, the green haired teenager tore down the road, a new short term goal ahead of him.

Ruko continued on her way home, only to find her cottage up in flames. She lived in solitude, so there were no neighbours to put it out for her.
"Aw, rats," she said, a bit too calmly, given the situation. "That sucks. Probably forgot to put the cooking fire out 'fore I left."
Without another word she spun on her heel and began to trek back down, not even bothering to wait the fire out and salvage any surviving things.
"May as well head towards the nearest city and get a job for once," Ruko mumbled, stretching her arms above her head. "Probably beats livin' in the sticks anyways."
And so Ruko headed towards Aelmoor, the closest (though not actually close) city in the area.

Gumi continued on her way towards Aelmoor, her feet somewhat dragging on the trail. Almost there, she thought to herself. Just about half as mile left. It would take about ten minutes at the pace she was going.
